When a tooth needs a root canal treatment?
If not cured on time the caries enters the pulp cavity. This inflamates the pulp. The entering bacteria leads to its necrosis. After that they make a inflamatory process in the bone which can lead to serios complications. The root canal treatment is consisted in the following manipulations.
Removing of the pulp
The first step is the removing of everything in the pulp cavity. With special instruments is measured the length of the root canal. After that they are rinsed with chemicals and everything in the pulp cavity is removed with special endodontic instruments.
Obturation of the canals
After the canals are clean and desinfected they are filled. This stops the flow of microbes in direction to the bone and helps the organism to recover.
Obturation of the tooth
The last step is the obturation of the tooth. If necessary posts are inserted for greater strength of the restoration.
Placement of a crown
The teeth which had endodontic treatment has major teeth tissue loss. This leads to greater risk of tooth fracture. To prevent this from happening on the tooth a crown is placed.
